WHO WE ARE
The Independent School Alliance is the leading organization of its kind. It was founded by its members schools for the purpose of placing underrepresented students at the elementary and secondary levels. Since 1984 we have been placing students at remarkable independent schools in Southern California.
Over the past ten years Alliance students have received $52.3 million dollars in financial aid from our member schools, and also noteworthy, 100% of Alliance graduating seniors have gone on to college, often at Ivy League institutions.
All of the independent schools in our member base belong to the California Association of Independent Schools and are accredited, independent, nonprofit institutions governed by boards of trustees. Alliance member schools vary widely, ranging in size from 132 to 1,586, most are co-ed, 3 are all girls' schools; the majority of schools are secular, but several are religiously affiliated. The curriculum is stimulating and challenging and at the secondary level, the programs are specifically college preparatory.
WHAT WE DO
We help the parents of academically strong, motivated Black, Latino/a, and Native American students going into elementary, middle, and high school find a place in a remarkable independent school. We counsel the students and their families on choosing a school that is right for them. We guide them through the admissions process, counseling them on testing, and, if necessary, how to apply for financial aid. Eighty two percent of Alliance families receive financial aid from our member schools. Additionally, we provide support programs to our students and our families throughout their educational experience.
We partner with our members schools to enhance their development and implementation of diversity and multiculturalism through expert counseling, workshops on emerging educational topics and annual meetings of school leaders.
